Outfit Details: Pink Impala Roller Skates, Crop Top Cami, Bikini Bottoms with Suspenders, Pink Faux Fur Coat
I recently picked up a new hobby: roller skating!! I feel you don’t see rollerskating too often these days so I wanted to give it a try – and knew I would come up with some cute photos! Even though I hadn’t skated since I was a child, I didn’t realize how much practice it takes to skate comfortably, either. I did want a fun way to work out though, and since roller skating is a sport, it was definitely the perfect hobby to pick up on for me. And it most definitely is a workout!
After some research, I chose the Impala Rollerskates because they had great reviews for the price. They also have a lot of super cute colors and the exact color combo I wanted as well. Impala’s whole aesthetic is cute too, so I knew I wanted to be apart of that!
These skates are extremely comfortable, and although several of the reviews said to size up, I chose my typical size and it fits me perfect. I feel like a size up would have been way too big on me.
As a newbie to rollerskating again, there are a few must-know tips I learned that really helped me the moment I laced these new skates up:
1. Start on the grass or carpet. (I immediately rolled onto hard floor and almost fell😂) Practice walking, jumping, rolling and kneeling on grass first to get comfortable moving in the skates.
2. Learn How To Stop. Extremely important! Don’t begin skating on cement or hard surface until you know how to stop. As a beginner, the easiest way for me has been the Plow Stop, which is where you widen your stance and pull in those thigh muscles to stop. You can also use the toe stops on your skates (which I haven’t wanted to mess up yet, lol), which is where you drag one foot on the toe until you stop. If you’re wearing knee pads, you can also drop to one knee to stop. For advanced skaters, you can use the T-Stop, which is where you put your right foot behind your left in a T position for an immediate stop (but you need to have balance, hence it’s for the more advanced skaters).
3. Always Have Your Knees Bent. The trick to not fall (or not fall as much), is to always have your knees slightly bent. It helps with your balance and won’t lock up your knees like if they were straight (which is where you start to lose balance like you’re about to fall backwards). When skating on rougher ground (cracks, debris, etc.) bend your knees even more in a squatting position so you can have the balance to skate over more difficult ground. Whenever you feel like you’re about to fall or lose balance, drop straight to your knees immediately. This will help because you will already be near the ground and your fall won’t be as rough.
4. Keep Feet Spread Out. Point your toes outwards like a duck while skating. This also helps keep balance and lets you glide and skate away. Put weight each foot using this method for an easy glide.
5. Practice on Flat Surface. As a new skater, it’s important to practice on a flat and smooth surface after you got comfortable on the grass. Try a flat surface with no cement cracks or debris. You want to focus on a smooth skate first before any of the advanced steps, so you can practice your balance. 4 wheels may sound easy to skate on, but you actually need to have good balance or you’ll just eat it, haha.
6. Just Do It! Something I had to constantly keep telling myself. It’s intimidating skating at first because I looked like I had no idea what I was doing with these big skates on my feet (and I still look like that sometimes, haha). But it’s really worth it in the end. Keep practicing a little everyday and you will start to feel more comfortable each time. I love the feeling of skating – it’s such a free feeling and learning new things is such a reward. And I can’t forget how much I love the leg and glute workout while skating!
It’s always fun to pick up a new hobby, and I’m especially loving this one! The past few months I’ve also learned piano on the keyboard (and still learning), so it’s really helped me utilize new skills. If you’ve been wanting to try something new, do it! Skating is extremely fun and I’m surprised you don’t see it more often these days!

The content is very impressive and after reading the article I am interested in roller skating. Skating is my hobby and in my spare time I am skating. Skateboarding is very good for health and regular skateboarding helps me to burn excess calories. One has to keep in mind about accessories while skating. I am using the best skateboard shoes (http://www.laderaskateboards.com/shoes) and wheels. These two are very vital for safety and prevention of accidents.
